Gear Checking The Sony Fx6 with Chase

Gear checking is an integral part of making sure a shoot goes smoothly and even goes at all. It’s important that each department has sufficiently prepped their tools for the specific requirements of the shoot coming up. This is just a quick look at what goes into it, but there’s actually a lot more, even just in the camera department. Over and above checking the gear is all working correctly and nothing is missing, there’s checking cards are formatted, the camera is setup with the right settings for the project. There is also checking each of the lenses, the camera sensor and rolling test clips and checking all is in order. On our smaller sets it’s not uncommon that one crew member will be checking multiple departments, such as VT, Lighting, Sound, Data Wrangling and even Grips. This is not preferred but does happen with some lower budget projects.
